February, 2012

Hello Brother Knights,

I hope everyone is doing well. Amazingly it is February and equally so the weather has been exceptional. Last month many of us gathered for our annual Holiday Dinner. It was great to see those that were able to attend. Congratulations to the winners of the prizes that were to be had. The reviews were mixed, so it looks like we will be looking elsewhere next year.

On Tuesday, January 31st two new members to our council made their 1st Degree. Please join me in welcoming Michael Castellano and Charles Tedeschi. I am confident that they will both be contributing members to our council. I have one or two other candidates that are interested but were unable to attend this degree date. All current members should continue to keep their eyes and ears open for potential new members.

On Monday, January 30th we had our Officers Meeting over at Holy Cross Parish. As I mentioned in my January newsletter we were given the opportunity to hold some of our meetings in the Fr. Joe room over at Holy Cross. We should all be grateful to Fr. Jim McNamara and his parish staff for giving us this opportunity. We believe this will help us attract new members and allow us to do more for the parish. More information will follow on when we will start holding our monthly Business Meetings at the parish, but this will involve changes in the day and likely the time. All Social Meetings will continue over at the Islip Pavilion at 7:30 pm.

This month a postcard is being mailed out to all members inviting you all to join us on our social nights. We would like to see many more members get involved and share ideas to attract fellowship. Consider coming down and taking part in whatever activities are available.

Finally…As we prepare for the Lenten season, we are going to try collecting food and personal hygiene items for the next three months. So please bring items during ALL meetings for collection. Afterwards we will present to the parish. If we are able to collect a sizable amount of these items, it would be a nice gesture to be able to donate to both Holy Cross and St. Elizabeth’s. Please do not donate expired items.

Reminder: Ash Wednesday is February 22nd

If you have not mailed back your dues, please do so as soon as possible. Thank you!

Vivat Jesus
